I got to visit one of my favorite people a few weeks ago. My time spent at her house in Michigan was rich, full of laughter, good food, memories, new tattoos, love. And photos. I got to photograph her beautiful family.
When we first discussed the photographs…. her words went something like “I want just our real lives. I might pick up the socks that always seem to find their way to my living room floor, but beyond that, I just want to see my life. Because it will inevitably change and I want to be able to hold onto it. Oh, and I want some pictures of me and my husband because I love him.” This was music to my ears. This is what I wish I photographed all. the. time. (see why we’re friends? )
These mundane moments will be what makes your heart inflate in a few years when life moves forward.
I hope you enjoy seeing this typical Saturday morning at her house. If you are interested in a Real Life Session at home, please contact me and mention this post for 10% off.
“Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
